It will showcase the Pittsburgh region as an exceptional place to advance a career and build a life, simultaneously serving both employers and job seekers.
The Pittsburgh region as a place of opportunity where diverse, skilled and appropriately educated individuals match available job opportunities.
The Allegheny Conference on Community Development launched ImaginePittsburgh.com in September 2006 as the communications platform for Pittsburgh250, the celebration of the 250th anniversary of the naming of Pittsburgh. In October 2008, the Conference added a searchable job listing aggregator to better connect job seekers with opportunities throughout the 10 counties of southwestern Pennsylvania. The two functions were combined into a single website in 2010, which has been supplemented in the years since with a social media program.
In 2012, ImaginePittsburgh.com drew 55,012 unique visitors, with the majority using the site to search for regional jobs. The companion blog, ImaginePittsburgh Now!, is a Google News source that received 40,065 unique visitors last year; the ImaginePittsburgh.com YouTube channel’s 200 videos received nearly 18,000 views. The Twitter feed, @ImaginePgh, has nearly 7,500 followers; the Facebook page reaches more than 1,400 individuals weekly.
The Allegheny Conference on Community Development and its Affiliates – the Greater Pittsburgh Chamber of Commerce, the Pennsylvania Economy League of Greater Pittsburgh and the Pittsburgh Regional Alliance (PRA) – work together to stimulate economic growth and improve the quality of life in southwestern Pennsylvania.
Founded in 1944, the Allegheny Conference on Community Development is one of the nation's leading economic and community development organizations, combining strong private sector leadership with commitment from public sector partners. Our strategic focus is creating a more competitive business climate and marketing the Pittsburgh region for investment, job creation and talent. The Conference relies upon the Regional Investors Council – leaders of more than 300 companies and organizations – to provide time, talent and resources to advance our Agenda.
Three affiliated organizations, each staffed by the Conference, provide research and analysis, advocacy and marketing to realize the vision of the Conference leadership.
